On Wednesday 25th April Hogs golfers travelled to West Sussex Golf Course to take on the Sussex Martlets Golf Society. This was the first time that The Hogs Golf Society had held a match against another society.
We were extremely privileged to play at West Sussex which is rated 13th in England and is a quite beautiful course. Our hosts entertained us royally with a carvery, an incredible array of desserts and copious bottles of wine.
If their intention was to soften us up it didn’t quite work as despite the lovely lunch then being battered by hailstones and soaked to the skin the match was halved with each side scoring 2 ½ victories!
The Hogs team of 5 pairs playing foursomes was Robert Wilson (Capt) & Richard Steel, John Barrett & Rupert Cox, Steven Lapage & Roger Hunt, David Boase & Peter Thwaites and John Irving & Chris Green.
Despite the weather our team all agreed that the day was a great success which hopefully will be repeated in the future.
