Recap
12.07.25 – Hampshire Hogs O40s v Cricket Society O40s
The game followed a morning Hoggets game so team arrivals were treated to the next generation of Hogs showing off their considerable talent!
Whilst last year’s match day was beset by variable, on-off dry and wet weather conditions, today’s game took place on one of the hottest day’s of the Summer so far with 32c at the start. Not a cloud in the sky. The match started 30 minutes late as both sides faced delayed arrivals due to a combination of M3 and A3 closures.
Cricket Society won the toss and elected to bat, declaring at 244-5 off 42 overs at 4pm after a strong showing by the top of their order.  Andrew Halstead bowled an admirably long stint of 14 overs, getting 3 wickets for 74 runs. After a highly commended tea, HH O40s responded, losing opener Chris Hill early, but followed by a solid contribution by the rest of the order.  Qualifier (and very able wicketkeeper) Duncan Barker, topped the batting scores with a dogged 49.
With 20 overs played from 6pm, the Hogs had put on 214-7, just 30 short after 40 overs.  Both teams toiled equally in the attritious heat and on a flat wicket.  A draw was the fair result!
