The Hoggets match against St Cross on 22nd July was a friendly and thoroughly enjoyable game, between two teams well known to each other. After winning the toss, St Cross elected to bat and got off to a great start, with Dylan Farbrother scoring 20 off the first over. However, as the innings progressed, the wickets tumbled, leaving St Cross all out for 124 in the 20th over. The Hoggets fielding was particularly impressive, with two run outs and a fine catch by Algy Royle, in the deep. Of the bowlers, the pick was George Zawoda, who finished with figures of 4 for 11 from three overs.
In reply, the Hoggets opened with Ben Foster (32 retired) and George Zawoda (15), who provided a fine partnership of 52 for the first wicket. Chris Van der Walt made the other significant contribution of 28, with the Hoggets reaching 125 for 5 in the 18th over, giving them victory by 5 wickets.
