Warnford looked at its finest as the veteran Free Foresters won the toss and chose to bat under a cloudless sky. They raced to 120 for the loss of one wicket by drinks in the seventeenth over before the Hogs wrestled back some control. It was short lived as the Foresters moved to an imposing 244-3 in their 35 overs.
What looked like a ‘full’ total suddenly appeared achievable as Nick Fraser and James Kendall rolled back the years and stroked the ball to all parts. We were in touch at the halfway stage and Will Oscroft continued to push before Foresters spinner, Robin Jones’ flight and guile saw him take 5-14 as the veteran Hogs collapsed to 196 all out.
We will come back next year a little older…..and wiser….and do battle again.
