Recap
Hampshire Hogs v Old Amplefordians – 29.04.17
We had a very competitive game with the Old Amplefordians ultimately coming up short by two wickets.
Hogs batted first having won the toss and were disappointingly bowled out for 151, only Mark Goodeve-Docker showing any resistance with a spirited 43. On a very true pitch offering a bit of assistance to the bowlers, 151 never looked like being enough runs. The Hogs succumbed to a combination of disciplined seam bowling, an accurate, if non-turning off spinner and a handful of poor shots.
However, in reply the OA’s were soon under pressure as young Hog Tom Oliver bowled a fantastic opening spell from the bottom end. 40-1 became 40-4 in the space of 3 balls as Oliver took a memorable hat-trick which included Hog Mark Low as his second victim. The Hogs fielded with great energy and determination but ultimately lost by 2 wickets having made the OA’s work very hard to reach their target in almost 50 overs.
