Match Report:

Arriving with the weight of over a decade without a win at the Hurlingham Club on their shoulders, the Hogs arrived with a quiet and steely confidence.  With the Hogs flagship batsman back in our ranks for the first time in a while due to back injury, there was a sense that this could be our day.

Having won the toss and controversially elected to field, opening bowler Will Barlow vindicated the captain’s decision within moments; Freddie Fraser sharp catch low down at backward point.  Seb Norris backed up his bowling partner at the other end bowling the opposition’s talisman through the gate.  And wickets kept coming at regular intervals with standout performances for Will Barlow (2-42) and Mr Consistent, Tom Pennick (2-22) never allowing the Hurlingham to settle.  They ended 192 all out.

The openers did well to see off the opening bowlers making way for stand out batting performances from Kumo Sharma (45*) and in particular the big man himself, Matt Love, with an impressive 113 without dismissal.  The Hogs got over the line with over a dozen overs to spare and plenty of batting in the shed, winning by 7 wickets.

Man of the match without doubt was Matt Love, without whom the chase could have been a completely different affair.

Tip of the red and purple cap to everyone involved with all Hogs contributing in one way or another.  Nothing better than starting the season with a win!  The Hogs go marching on.
